Edwin Makkinga

Manager Climate Policy, Enbridge Inc.

 

Edwin Makkinga is Manager of Climate Policy at Enbridge Inc., North America’s premier energy infrastructure company. As part of Enterprise Public Policy, he supports corporate engagement with regulators, investors, and other stakeholders on climate and energy to advance the company’s role within the transition to a lower-emissions economy in both the U.S. and Canada. Edwin provides ongoing support to the company’s business development teams in evaluating investments in clean energy and innovation through the lens of current and emerging climate policy, including the generation of environmental attributes and tax credits. He represents Enbridge on a number of industry associations and is currently the chair of the American Petroleum Institute’s Climate Policy Subcommittee.

Before joining Enbridge Inc., he was the Manager of Environment at Enbridge’s Natural Gas Distribution and Storage utility which enabled him to gain a strong background in environmental management with a focus in linear infrastructure permitting, greenhouse gas emissions reporting, and contaminated soil and groundwater remediation.

Edwin is based in Calgary, Alberta.
