Manager, Alternative Fuels, California Air Resources Board
Jim Duffy manages the Alternative Fuels Section at the Air Resources Board and oversees long-term policy development for the Low Carbon Fuel Standard. In prior positions at ARB, he has led efforts to evaluate land use change emissions for biofuels and estimate emissions for crude oil production.
Dr. Duffy holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Montana State University and a PhD in Water Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Between his undergraduate and graduate schooling, he served for six years as a nuclear engineering officer onboard the USS Georgia submarine and as a nuclear power plant instructor at the Naval Nuclear Prototype Training Facility in Idaho. After earning his PhD, he taught for eight years as an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Montana State University.
